Pre-tanning tips:
Shower and exfoliate skin, do so 1-12 hours before appointment for best results. Avoid super moisturizing body washes (Dove or oil based scrubs). I recommend exfoliating gloves.
Shave/Wax anything you need to, preferably the day before tan.
Do NOT put on any products such as deodorant, moisturizers, makeup or perfumes before your tan. These can affect the development of your tan.
Choose a dark colored bikini/bathing suit/g-string. Going fully nude is an option for women.
I recommend exfoliating at the end of your shower as your skin will be softened for good exfoliation and you will most likely scrub away any shampoo residue etc.
Post-tanning tips:
Wear loose fitting clothing while your tan develops to ensure you don't get lines from tight bands.
Do not shower for at least 12 hours after application or up to 24 hours maximum. If you did the Rapid Tan, leave to develop 1-5 hours or recommended time.
Avoid touching your body or face until you've showered off the bronzer, this could cause solution to get on the palms of your hands and discolor them!
Try to avoid skin to skin contact while tan is developing, this can cause sweating and affect the outcome of your tan.
Avoid rain or splashes of water while tan is developing.
When showering try to avoid exfoliating (loofahs, shaving), exfoliating after a tan lessens the longevity of the tan.
Now using moisturizing body wash/soap is acceptable. (Except Dove!)
When drying off try to pat dry instead of rubbing.
Moisturize! Once a day is fine. Twice a day is better. This will help your tan last longer and fade more evenly. I recommend Hempz or Lovefresh body lotions!
For my gym goers, make sure you wait until your tan has developed and you have showered off the bronzer before getting overly sweaty. This could cause drips! After you workout, pat dry the overly sweaty spots. This will help the fade, example: in between boobs or underarms.
